All About the Smile: Professionally custom-fitted mouthguards
Sporting accidents commonly cause preventable injuries to the mouth. Trauma can cause long term damage to teeth, jaws and supporting tissues which could be easily preventable by wearing professionally custom-fitted mouthguards during sports competitions and training.
As custom-fitted mouthguards are made to the correct specifications of each individual mouth, they allow for a comfortable fit as well as added protection. Ill-fitting mouthguards such as those available over-the-counter at pharmacies can cause damage as they do not fit snugly and can fall out during training.
A custom-fitted mouthguard is a smart investment considering the pain and financial impact of trauma to the mouth. Iconic Dentistry has had the pleasure of providing the Hockeyroos with custom-fitted mouthguards for a number of years. Our mouthguards are individually crafted in-house and are suitable for all levels of sports (including children’s sports).

All About the Skin: At Home Skincare Routine
Looking after your skin begins at home with an established skincare routine that involves cleansing, hydrating, moisturizing and protection from UV damage. Whilst regular skin treatments are hugely beneficial to skin health, a great skincare routine at home enhances and prolongs the benefits gained from skin treatments in a clinical setting.
Cleansing the skin twice a day is as important as any step in an established skincare routine. Not only does it remove dirt, oil and dead skin that has accumulated on the skin but it also allows for better penetration of products that you apply after.
Applying serums and moisturisers on uncleansed skin leave these products ‘sitting’ on the skin’s surface and do not allow for absorption of the key active ingredients. The second step in a good skincare routine is hydration. Not only is it the key to supple, luminous skin but it also reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Finally, a good moisturiser will seal your skin preventing water loss and create a barrier to irritants.
Our skin therapists are experts in at home skincare routine advice and can customise a plan geared toward your skin goals.
